Resolve--a pole-based system
Vertical poles in three heights (96, 60, and 48 inches), work with horizontal support arms to define work areas, provide a strong structural foundation, support hang-on components, and make power and data accessible to the user. Trusses attach to tall pole tops to route power and data cables overhead and delineate space.

Imaginative and Human-centered
Human scale. The design is based on the size, reach, and movements of people.

Open, friendly work spaces. Resolve's shapes and openness encourage people to connect for interaction and collaboration; air and light pass through; workers can see in and out and don't feel confined.

Personal space. Screens and canopies define personal territory; rolling screens help users control privacy; acoustical inserts absorb and block sound, and Qt Quiet technology reduces noise distractions.

Attract and keep employees. Resolve helps workers feel comfortable, valued, and effective; they stay connected to their work and to each other.

Broad Aesthetic Range
Inclusive palette. The carefully constructed selection of warm and cool colors is grouped by value: light, medium, and dark; colors are designed to be used harmoniously together.

Unified appearance. Resolve's spectrum of colors and finishes lets it integrate with traditional or progressive interior architecture.

Refined choices. Along with laminate and Formcoat finishes, Resolve offers a choice of Geiger natural veneers and cathedral recut veneers for a rich look.

Custom graphics. With the Customer's Own Image (COI) program, customers can have their own graphics printed on screens, canopies, and flags.

Technology Support
Overhead pathway. Trusses carry power and data independent of the workspace below so workstations can be light, open, and easy to plan and reconfigure; a truss can hold a 6-circuit, 10-wire electrical harness and has capacity for 144 Category 6, 4-pair UTP cables at a 60  percent fill rate.

Pole power. Each pole face can hold 9 Category 6, 4-pair UTP cables at a 60  percent fill rate for a total of 27 cable drops; each pole has locations for 9 duplex receptacles.

Star topology. Cables in trusses can be routed in an efficient pattern that radiates from the center of a space to the perimeter, using significantly less cable than spine wall routing.

Zone distribution. Reduces time and cost when installing and reconfiguring data networks.

Value and Savings
Fast installation. The simple, lightweight infrastructure and concise vocabulary make installation quick and efficient; cables are all laid in.

Easy reconfiguration. Resolve is agile, designed for speedy changes that control churn costs and don't disrupt workers.

Efficient asset management. Compared to traditional systems, Resolve has about one-quarter the components and takes up one-third the space when knocked down in storage.

Optimum floor plan. The 120-degree geometry can create higher workstation densities while maintaining openness and comfort, saving on real estate costs.

Environmental Sense
Using less to do more. A Resolve workstation weighs one-third less than a traditional systems workstation and has a greater strength-to-weight ratio.

Sustainability. Every part is easily disassembled for recycling; workstations are 86 percent recyclable and contain 27 percent recycled materials.

Low-emitting product. Resolve is GREENGUARD certified and may contribute to LEED credits.
Design Story

Herman Miller and designer Ayse Birsel saw the sweeping changes in people, work, business strategies, and technology as a great opportunity to reexamine the work environment and resolve (or re-solve) critical workplace issues.

The result of this inquiry is the Resolve system. Resolve isn't simply an evolution of panel-based products. In fact, there are no panels at all.

The elegantly simple structure is based on poles with screens attached at 120-degree angles. This inventive approach provides all the intelligence and function of panels while allowing greater diversity of workstation patterns and more cost-effective use of real estate. There's also more openness and flexibility for collaborative environments.

Resolve's human scale and ease of use reflect its fundamental principle: An organization's success starts with each person, so it's critical that everyone be provided the capabilities to do their job most effectively, whether it's collaboration or individual tasks.

As a response to customers' evolving needs, the Resolve system's features have been updated and refined. With its expanded capabilities and refined aesthetics, Resolve fits a wide variety of environments. It can meet traditional systems-based expectations, like acoustical specifications, increased stability, and expanded storage capability, while smoothly integrating with sophisticated aesthetics.

Product refinements encompass the following:
-Sight. Aesthetics, from colors and finishes to hardware, integrate with a broad range of interiors and create a unified appearance.
-Sound. The acoustical insert, installed between two Resolve screens, absorbs and blocks sound to enable concentration for individual tasks.
-Storage. Components have generous capacity and reliable security, and they accommodate a variety of applications.
-Stability. A highly engineered bracket secures the work surface to the pole.

A low Resolve infrastructure creates and defines team space that facilitates impromptu interaction while enabling heads-down work and individual comfort.
Two-sided, space-efficient Resolve workstations--ideal for call centers and collaboration--feature tall poles with canopies for a sense of enclosure.
Clustered, three-sided Resolve workstations make teamwork possible while rolling screens provide additional privacy.
Traditional, individual Resolve workstations in a back-to-back configuration encourage collaboration, while a combination of pole and screen heights varies the enclosure.
For an executive desiring connection while preserving boundaries, an upscale central Resolve workstation is adjacent to meeting space and administrative support.
Heads-down work is supported in a three-sided Resolve workstation; with the Customer's Own Image program, screens are easily customized for organizational branding.
Resolve cabinets and ladder shelves, along with R-pull Quadrant pedestals, provide abundant in-workstation storage for all kinds of materials.
The Resolve translucent acoustic insert mounts between two screens to absorb and block sound, enhancing acoustical privacy for adjacent workers without blocking light.
Boomerang work surfaces are available in a choice of veneers for a refined look.
Resolve veneer surfaces with exposed edges add a rich, professional aesthetic.
A work surface stability bracket anchors the end of a Resolve boomerang work surface to adjacent poles for increased stability.
