Our work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at top-level conferences. Herman Miller also maintains the ErgoLab as our center for original research and connection point to ergonomic study around the world.
The following research by Herman Miller was presented before the Human Factors Ergonomic Society (HFES):
Office Seating Behaviors: An Investigation of Posture, Task, and Job Type (1.5MB PDF): A field study of 40 office workers demonstrates how seating posture and task differ among job type.
Sitter Selected Postures in an Office Chair with Minimal Task Constraints (126KB PDF): A study of 79 office workers provides evidence that office work should be designed such that workers can sit more frequently with the reclined torso postures they would choose if they were not working.
