Space to Learn
People + Pedagogy + Place = Possibilities

We believe learning spaces are the sum of people, pedagogy, and place. When they are combined in a way that's right for the institution, the possibilities can enrich teaching and learning for students, faculty, administrators, and the community.

People. People are always our first consideration. Who are the key stakeholders? What are the human needs of students and faculty? What do they need as teachers and learners? What stimulates intellectual and social growth? How can a spirit of life-long learning be created and nurtured?

Pedagogy. As the traditional, instructor-led lecture makes way for more collaborative and engaging forms of learning, there's a growing recognition that campuses must support multiple teaching and learning styles--that learning spaces must become what teachers and students need them to be.

Place. Learning should be enriched by the places where it occurs, wherever they may be. The most effective learning spaces are adaptable, social, stimulating, healthful, resourceful, and sustainable.

Possibilities. Higher education makes life's possibilities real. It points the way to a better world. The environments that support it, and its mission, make a difference--to students, teachers, leaders, alumni, and the community.
